JTC 1 SWG-A Task Group on User Requirements (Task Group 1)
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
SWG-A TG 1 Toronto Resolution 1: Definitions of Accessibility
and Disability
Task Group 1 agrees that with respect to the definitions of accessibility
and disability, Task Group 1 will gather definitions of accessibility and
disability with the aim of being aware of content without adopting or endorsing
any specific definition.
SWG-A TG 1 Toronto Resolution 2: Foster Participation and Involvement
In order to foster participation and involvement, Task Group 1 recommends
that the working documents be publicly available and easily located.
Task Group 1 will develop a contact list, an information piece and invitations
for individuals to comment. Task Group 1 wants to be able to find out
who is on the current distribution list at any time. Volunteers to
explore mechanisms are Mr. Andy Heath, Dr. Kate Grant, Mr. James Thurston,
Ms. Judy Brewer, and Mr. Jim Tobias. ITI will convene a conference call
within two weeks to initiate the activity.
SWG-A TG 1 Toronto Resolution 3: Establish Moderated Publication
of Public Comments
In order to encourage people to participate in this group’s activities
by offering contributions and feedback, Task Group 1 recommends establishing
moderated publication of public comments with a proviso that the comments
do not necessarily represent the view of the committee.
SWG-A TG 1 Toronto Resolution 4: Submission of User Needs Summary
to Task Group 2

work of Task Group 2 but further work (including review of additional literature
identified) will be done to refine the document and add appropriate references.
