Statement of Benefits and Responsibilities

As Section 508 is a world-model in ensuring accessibility for aging and disabled populations it is critical for the JTC 1 Special Working Group on Accessibility (SWG-A) to stay apprised of new developments regarding the Section 508 Refresh and its impact on Information and Communications Technology. The SWG-A can also profit from more actively participating in the Refresh of Section 508, so as to understand the perspective of all interested parties and to enter into dialog accordingly.

In turn, the SWG-A can provide expert input to the Section 508 Refresh activity and assist in providing feedback in discussion and on proposals. Both organizations will be able to benefit from such a liaison relationship.

It is understood that development documents exchanged between the Section 508 Refresh committee and the JTC 1 SWG-A will not go beyond these groups.
